WHAT IS LEARNING JOURNALS?
Learning Journals is an online platform that schools and nurseries can use quickly and easily to create meaningful and personal observations of children’s learning that can be shared with you. This means you can log in securely to your child’s learning journal to view and comment on the observations and feel engaged in their learning.
Learning Journals is easy to use and can be accessed from anywhere using the Learning Journals app. Only you and relevant school staff can access your child’s journal using a unique username as well as a password and PIN. Please note these details are personal to you and you must not share this information with others.

WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE SHARE WITH LEARNING JOURNALS?
The following practitioner information is shared with Learning Journals to gain access to the platform to create/view learning observations:
Practitioner data:

Email Address
The following parent/carer information is shared with Learning Journals to gain access to the platform to view and comments on observations:
Parent/carer data:

Last Name

Phone number
The following pupil information is shared with Learning Journals in order to create a journal and create learning observations.
Pupil data:

Gender
Date of Birth
Additional Support Needs/English as an Additional Language

Images/Videos
Photographs and videos of your child may be uploaded to Learning Journals. Your child may also be included in group images/videos and shared on the Learning Journals of all pupils included.
All personal data, including photographs, email addresses and information about your child’s learning are stored securely, within the EU.
HOW YOUR DATA IS KEPT SAFE BY LEARNING JOURNALS:
Your data is held securely on Learning Journals’ systems or systems managed by suppliers on behalf of Learning Journals.
Access to this data is strictly controlled and can only be accessed by people who need it to do their job. Certain data, for example some sensitive information, is additionally controlled and is only made visible to members of staff who have a reason to work with it.
Learning Journals may need to disclose data if required by the police, regulatory bodies or legal advisors. Learning Journals will only ever share your data in other circumstances if they have explicit and informed consent.
