<\/a><\/p>\nWhy develop a skills-based curriculum?<\/strong><\/p>\n There are lots of jobs around today that didn\u2019t exist ten or twenty years ago and with technology advancing rapidly, the world of work is going to look very different in the future. These six essential skills are embedded into our curriculum and school ethos to ensure that we prepare our pupils to be successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens both now, and in the future.\u00a0 We are teaching children to persevere and have that grit and tenacity not to give up; to build resilience and support children to welcome failures, not as set-backs, but opportunities to learn; we are encouraging them to think critically and challenge the world around them, which will prepare them better for lifelong learning and the world of work.<\/p>\n Will my child still be learning standard school subjects?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes, we are still teaching the Scottish Curriculum, however the way in which we teach it, and the activities the pupils undertake, are planned to ensure that their character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking skills are being developed, as well as knowledge and understanding.\u00a0 By teaching these skills, we believe that we are providing children with a more rounded school experience, focusing on life skills and the world they live in.<\/p>\n What do these skills look like?<\/strong> <\/p>\n For more information, visit our Thinklink: Parent Information Thinklink.<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" At Holmston Primary, we have adapted the curriculum in all our classes to centre around the principles of Deep Learning.
