That’s it. Our alevins have been safely deposited in a redd created by Struan and Gordon. The river was too fast and high after yesterday for us to go near it, so we watched by the river bank. It’s been an amazing experience with such rich and varied learning experiences for us all. Do ask the P6s what they’ve learned. They’re full of chat and enthusiasm. Many thanks to Greggs for sponsoring the experience and to Struan and Gordon for walking us through it. All eggs have  hatched safely. Didn’t we do well? We’re now taking turns every hour to keep the temperature constant. The ALEVINS as seen in the photograph are feeding from their yolk sac. When that is used up we will need to return them to the river.

Here they are! Struan and Gordon brought them in today, ready for P6 returning to school tomorrow. Two have hatched already! This is so exciting and what a responsibility.

Primary 6 did a marvellous job of preparing an assembly to tell the school about our Lochs and Rivers in the Classroom project. It took place last Monday and the questions from all of the classes kept us there for a good half hour. We are continuing to monitor and try to regulate the water temperature. Weekends are a challenge!
