We focused on numeracy during our open area time. We worked through some tricky words problems at the teaching table and tried lots of different activities to consolidate our subtraction and addition. We used Pom poms as concrete materials to count and add or subtract within 20 and in the dental area we used the appointment books and clock to practise our time topic. We also did some measuring in the construction area.

We created some poppy fields using a finger painting technique and discussed what the symbol of the poppy means and why it is so important that we commemorate this every year.

We focused on our topic of teeth and people who help us during our open area time. We role played in the dentists office and fire station 🚒🚒 We thought about why it is important to look after our teeth and what might happen when we go to the dentist.

To practise topic, we played some paired games to identify the space on the clock belonging to each hour – we used cubes to  the area in the clock for each time and we made some clocks to colour the different sections to help us identify the times 🕰⏰ We have also been practising sequencing the days of the week and months of the year.

During our phonics lesson we focused on the ‘ng’ sound and completed a word sort activity to spot the different ways this appears in words. We highlighted the sounds and tried to used the words to make some sentences ✏️

During our open area time, we focused on numeracy. We had lots of opportunities to practice through different activities- we made watches to consolidate our time topic with Mrs Laurie and we practised our measuring using different materials.

Primary 2 had a fantastic day for our Halloween sponsored walk 🎃👻👻

We competed our walk and came back to class to have our Halloween party where we watched Coco and had some snacks and lots of fun! 👽 Fantastic costumes from everyone and a great day for all.
