At Fisherton EYC we believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment to learn and grow. Our dedicated staff provide fun, hands-on activities both indoors and outdoors that spark curiosity, build confidence and celebrate each child\u2019s unique talents, our pupils are developing essential Meta Skills for life and learning. From creative play to exciting adventures at the nearby beach and woods, we help children build confidence, curiosity and friendships while supporting families every step of the way. We also offer PEEP sessions, stay and play, giving parents and children the chance to learn, play and connect together.<\/p>\n

Big Class P4 – P7<\/span><\/h1>\n

Welcome to The Big Class<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We are a multi-composite class of P4, P5, P6 and P7 learners. We have 14 enthusiastic pupils this year. Our class is full of curiosity, creativity and kindness. We love to learn together, challenge ourselves, and celebrate each other\u2019s successes.<\/p>\n

Our teacher is Mrs Hannan.<\/p>\n

Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

Our Learning<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

In The Big Class, we Lead Our Learning \u2014 our voices, ideas and interests are valued and help shape what we do. We take ownership of our progress and reflect regularly on our achievements.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcd6<\/u>Literacy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This year, we are embarking on our South Ayrshire Reads journey, which helps us be confident, motivated readers and writers.<\/p>\n

We have four phonics sessions each week, exploring new phonemes and graphemes. Phonics is woven throughout our everyday learning across the curriculum.<\/p>\n

Our whole-class novel approach encourages deep understanding, critical thinking, and rich discussion. We explore language, character, theme and structure, and pupils read aloud independently or in small groups with an adult each week. Reading for enjoyment is promoted within the class and pupils can see what children\u2019s novel their teacher is reading in our class library.<\/p>\n

Our writing is interdisciplinary, linking to other areas of learning such as social studies and science. Pupils engage in a weekly immersive writing experience, as well as regular opportunities for writing across the curriculum.<\/p>\n

In maths, we take a thinking classroom approach that encourages curiosity, collaboration and critical thinking. We focus on understanding, reasoning and problem-solving \u2014 not just getting the right answer.<\/p>\n
