Improvement Priorities

Our Improvement Plan

After listening to staff, parents and children we have created our school improvement plan which guides us with our next steps.   South Ayrshire schools all agreed there should be three main targets linking to Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing.  Here are some of the initiatives we will be working on:

Numeracy

Raising attainment in Numeracy. We will fully embed `Number Talks’ throughout the school and Early Years Centre. ‘Number Talks’ is a short daily routine programme that seeks to improve mental agility in numeracy.

We will build on our current approaches to support assessment, achievement, tracking  and moderation.

We will also be developing personalised planning for numeracy within our Early Years Centre

Health, Wellbeing, Equality and Inclusion for All

We will ensure all children in the school and Early Years Centre participate in regular outdoor learning activities and that this will be embedded into our weekly planning.

We will  be seeking accreditation in our Rights Respecting Schools and Dyslexia Friendly journeys.

At cluster level, we are looking to increase access to sporting activities and events .

Literacy

We will implement and engage in a range of interventions to improve outcomes in literacy

We will develop a more holistic way of assessing our pupils allowing them to demonstrate their ability to transfer skills across different contexts.

We will also be developing personalised planning for numeracy within our Early Years Centre.
