The accommodation and facilities at Doonfoot Primary are being extended and enhanced on a phased basis to accommodate an increase in the school roll as a result of the new housing development at Greenan. The first phase of works was completed a number of years ago and saw the infant area extended to create 3 additional classrooms. Currently ongoing is the conversion of the IFE wing to create a modern early years centre with enhanced provision and this work is due to be completed during May 2019. The next phase works will focus on the school hall being extended to ensure that there is sufficient PE space for a larger number of children. The project will also include enhancing the dining space and improving the management and medical space, toilets and changing facilities, a new hall entrance and additional PE storage. The work will get underway during the summer and last approximately 10 months. Following initial discussions with the school, architects have been working on initial designs and images which are now available for people to view and comment on. These can be accessed online at the school website or the Council’s website at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/schools. The designs are also on display in the school for people to see.
