Welcome to Doonfoot Primary and Early Years Centre website. We hope you find this site helpful and informative. Communication between home and school is of paramount importance to ensuring a positive experience for all.
I am delighted to have joined the school in August 2021 as the new Head Teacher and am privileged to work with a team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff. Our main priorities in the school following the Covid-19 school closures is around education recovery, so our focus is on raising attainment in literacy and numeracy while supporting the health and well being needs of all our pupils. We are fortunate to be situated near to the beach, the river and close to several local parks, meaning we have lots of opportunities for our pupils to experience outdoor learning in the local area.
We hope that our children find our school a happy, fun and stimulating place to learn. Please enjoy browsing our website.

Hello! Welcome to our school website, we want to tell you a bit about our school.
At Doonfoot we have many groups & committees such as:
- The house and vice captains
- The Rights Respecting Schools
- CommitteeThe Eco Committee
- The JRSO (Junior Road Safety Officers)
- Sports Committee
- Pupil Council
- Dyslexia Friendly Schools Group
We work in our committees to help improve our school because we all have the right to have our opinions and ideas listened to!
All the teachers and staff are very friendly & kind. They will always help you if you need it.
We love outdoor learning. We have our own school canoes and get to go canoeing on the river Doon. We also all get to go to Dolphin House.
We have 4 different houses:
- Culzean
- Belleisle
- Greenan
- Dunure
Every year a sports day is held and the winning house gets extra points. The sports include shotput, javelin, running race, wellie boot throw, scavenger hunt, long jump and the high jump. Our House captains organise other events to help us earn house points too.
We love school dinners! All the school dinners and our dinner ladies are fantastic, we order our meals in the morning from a menu, fish and chip Friday is the best!
At break and lunch we play in our playground, our favourite thing to play is football. Mr Robb our janitor helps us in the playground and he also runs our school football team!
We are fundraising to buy more playground equipment and to help fix our sensory garden.
How do bees get to school? On the school buzz…………..
