It has been a busy term for the Rights Respecting School Committee. We are currently working towards our Silver Accreditation and hope to achieve it this term. <\/p>\n

The committee ran a School Mascot competition where pupils were challenged to create a character with a name to highlight children\u2019s rights within the school. The RRS committee created a short list of their favourites before the pupils voted for their favourite. Jessica\u2019s design was voted the winner. Look out for Donald the Dailly Duck our displays around the school. <\/p>\n

We have also created our Rights wall which displays our rights of the fortnight as well as any other rights that we have learned about. This links in with our SHANARRI indicators(Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Respected, Responsible and Included). So far we have learned about
\narticle 23 \u2013 all children with disabilities should live the best life possible
\narticle 17 \u2013 children have the right to access information
\narticle 24 \u2013 the right to health care, clean water, healthy food and a clean, safe environment to live in.
\narticle 19 \u2013 the right to be safe<\/p>\n

Two of our committe members attended the Equalities Conference with Mrs Parker to learn how other schools were developing children’s rights and celebrating different cultures and tackling racism.
\nOur committee have been working on raising awareness of rights with our parents, staff and wider community. They decided to create a video called our favourite right, showing children, staff and members of our community talking about their favourite right. Look out for it shared on our blog!<\/p>\n

We have started our campaign to improve our village:
\nSmall Changes, Big Difference for Dailly…Let\u2019s make Dailly shine!
\nOur committee thinks that there is a dog mess problem within the community as people as not picking up after their dogs. They also think there is lots of litter and some smashed glass at the park and at the forest. Look out for our posters around the village encouraging people to look after out village. <\/p>\n
