It is located on the Water of Girvan, 8 kilometres (5.0 miles) south of Maybole, and 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) east of Old Dailly. &#8220;New Dailly&#8221;, as it was originally known, was laid out in the 1760s as a coal-mining village.<\/p>\n<p>Dailly is a former mining village in South Ayrshire. We have shops, a library, doctors&#8217; surgery, activity centre, parks and a parish church. Across from the school we have woodlands and a large football pitch. Dalquharran Castle is easily accessed by crossing the River Girvan via the footbridge.
