We work together to follow our school values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the year, we will work hard to show our school values and be the best we can be. We will celebrate our achievements through weekly recognition awards as well as during House Assemblies. We will also participate in lots of transition activities across the session.<\/p>\n<p>We will undertake a leadership role for the duration of the session.\u00a0 These roles have already been allocated against P7 Leadership Application forms.\u00a0 Every Friday, we will participate in Leadership opportunities, developing our skills and making a positive impact to our school. We will also participate in daily lunch duty where we will provide support and encouragement to younger pupils, and we will also be Wet Play Monitors when the weather prevents us from going outside.<\/p>\n<p>We will have homework each month, which will be shared on Microsoft Teams, so please keep an eye out for this. Our class will also enjoy learning with Miss McFarlane on a Thursday morning.\u00a0 Miss McFarlane will teach Outdoor Learning, PE and Grammar.<\/p>\n<p>In Literacy, we will explore book studies such as Divided City, Letters from the Lighthouse as well as a transition text in collaboration with Ayr Academy. We will have the opportunity to develop our reading, writing and listening and talking skills through various comprehension tasks as well as through class discussions.<\/p>\n<p>In Numeracy and Maths, we will develop our knowledge and understanding of number, money, measure, fractions, decimals and percentages and also through data handling tasks.\u00a0 We will build our skills through interactive games as well as through different problem-solving activities.<\/p>\n<p>We will study topics including the 1960s which will link with our school\u2019s Diamond Jubilee celebration, WWII where we will investigate key events as well as how war impacts people and their environment, the Life of Robert Burns and also an enterprise topic called Big Business where we will take part in the Make \u00a35 Grow challenge in collaboration with Virgin Money UK.\u00a0 We will have weekly Music lessons with Mr Thompson where we will prepare for another two musical showcases, and we will have weekly tennis lessons at Coylton Tennis Club in terms 1 and 4.<\/p>\n<p>There will be plenty of opportunities to develop new skills through all other curricular subjects as well as continuing the work we started last year linked to Meta-skills. We will participate in British Sign Language lessons with Mrs Caira, and we also engage in French live lessons on the first Tuesday of every month.<\/p>\n<p>We are also looking forward to our residential trip to Dolphin House next year.<\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t wait for a fun, busy and exciting year of learning together!
