Hello from Primary 5 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Term 2 Update<\/strong><\/p>\n

In our class this year we have 28 pupils. Our class teacher is Mrs Duncan. Miss Herron teaches us Science, Phonics and Outdoor P.E. every Tuesday. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Health and Wellbeing <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> Swimming <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> We are continuing our swimming lessons at the Citadel in Ayr each week for 10 weeks of swimming lessons. These last until the middle of November! We do our Daily Mile and have been trying to do it in many ways and styles! We are hoping to learn about den building during our Outdoor Learning lessons and looking at the changing seasons too and we want to make coconut bird feeders! We planted wildflowers in Term 1, and they are really beginning to grow!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maths – We will be learning about angles, different types of triangles, 2D & 3D shapes and coordinates and continuing work with the 4 operations of adding, subtracting, multiplication and division and problem solving, this term. We are also developing our knowledge of Number Talk strategies to help us with this. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Literacy <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> We are learning our spelling sounds each week and we will be learning about affixes <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> prefixes and suffixes later this term too. We will be learning to use figures of speech – Alliteration & Similes. We are continuing to work on paragraphing, punctuation and presentation when writing and will be developing our writing skills using the Talk for Writing programme, writing a portal story. We will be working in Literature Circle groups reading different novels and learning the different roles and responsibilities and the tasks involved in each role. We will be learning how to create different types of questions about our books! Along with SAR, we will be focusing on reading fluency and learning how the rate, phrasing, expression, and punctuation will help us achieve this! We will continue to read our Accelerated Reading books and enjoy testing them too. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Technologies <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> We are using the school I Pads and laptops for research and keyboard skills development and we are learning to navigate TEAMS and Class notebook. Remembrance Day on the 11th <\/sup>of November we are making and felt poppies developing our skills sewing. We will be learning to code 3D robot cars. We will be making our Christmas crafts too, later this term – watch this space!! <\/strong><\/p>\n

P5 Pupil Council <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> We are the school\u2019s Pupil Council and this term we are working on the Anti Bullying campaign this year. 10th<\/sup> <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> 14th<\/sup> November, and Odd Socks Day is Friday 14th<\/sup> November. We are delivering a lesson to each class about Anti Bullying week 2025 in November, and the message this year is <\/strong>\u2013<\/strong> The Power for Good! We will be running an Odd Socks competition to show how we are all unique! The winning entries will be displayed on the Pupil Council display in the school.\u00a0 We are also conducting a whole school survey about what the pupils SEE, FEEL and HEAR when at school. Mrs Donnelly will be displaying the results in school too.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n
