Glow and Teams Tutorials

Home Learning – Online Help 🖥️💻👩‍💻👨‍💻

The main thing to take from the following post is – don’t panic. Please don’t let the information overwhelm you. This is new to us all and we’ll get there!

The two videos below are to lead you through the set up of Glow/Teams on a range of devices and initial usage of Microsoft Teams. Some staff may encourage children to use the different settings within the app whilst live but these should get you started. I hope these help.

If there are any issues, please get in touch. Miss McAllister will be in school so may not be able to answer on here but will be available on sa16mcallisterr@glow.sch.uk or if you call the school 📞

We have found that the best quality and most effective way to use Teams is via the app, downloaded onto a PC or laptop (or mobile device like a tablet/iPad) with a camera and microphone – can be inbuilt or separate hardware. This also allows all participants to view each other on a grid style as opposed to one at a time, as on web browser version. Please see the second link to help with this

P1/2 Virtual School Trip

Hi everyone,
I am so excited to tell you that we are going on a Virtual School Trip this week! For the whole week!!🙂
Where we are going and the activities there can all be done on your computer/laptop/tablet/phone. You just need lots of imagination and creativity… and I think you’re going to love it! ❤️
Follow the slides on the PowerPoint and if you can, let me know how you get on with the activities.
You don’t have to do all of the activities – you can maybe do 1 or 2 a day.
I am excited to hear from you.
Have the best fun ever! 🙂

Transition Task for P1/2

Right boys and girls who has been doing their rain dancing!? ☔😟 We need the sunshine back. I have got some flowers to plant in my garden and the grass needs cut so I need to you all to do a little sunshine dance please! 🌞

Anyway, I have a very special and important job for you if you are up to the challenge? 👩‍🏫
I am wondering if you can help me to help the nursery children who will be joining us in P1 after summer? We want to let them know just how super it is in Primary 1 and 2. Try to think back to school and all of the things you love about it.♥️
What can you tell them? What’s the best things about it? Is it the people? The toys? The things we do?
If you could please do one of the things for the list below and send it back to me to show off to the nursery children and hopefully get them excited that would be super!
🌟 A poster – pictures and words
🌟 A video, maybe a little presentation
🌟 A piece of writing
🌟  A song or poem (could be acrostic – PRIMARY ONE – ask adults and big brothers and sisters or me about this)
Thank you so much, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Let me know if I can help.

3D Animals in your home!

While zoos the world over remain closed, there’s still a way you can gawk at the majestic beauty of tigers, lions, cheetahs, and goats from the comfort of your own living room – all you need is a capable smartphone!

First of all, you’ll need a compatible phone or tablet. Then you need to do is make a search for the animal in the Google app. You should see a card offering to introduce you to a life-sized furry little friend, and pressing “view in 3D” will display the chosen animal against a white background, where you can rotate and pan around. Hit “view in your space” to enter AR mode, and follow the instructions for measuring your surroundings.

Worry Dolls

Hi everyone
I know you are all doing fine and keeping busy but I am sure there are days when you feel a bit worried and scared. That is completely normal and totally OKAY.
I am sending you a little story to listen to, whether you feel worried just now or not. It’s important to remember it if you or someone in your family starts to feel a bit upset and worried.
After the story you can have a go at making some worry dolls. I have put the picture down below to show you what they look like. I am going to make some soon and I will send you a picture when they are finished.
Have fun, take care, stay safe.
Miss M ❤️
