{"id":1466,"date":"2020-11-12T09:25:42","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T09:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/barrpsandeyc\/?p=1466"},"modified":"2020-11-12T14:44:47","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T14:44:47","slug":"september-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/barrpsandeyc\/2020\/11\/12\/september-newsletter\/","title":{"rendered":"September 2020 HT Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Barr PS and EYC Newsletter<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>September 2020<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Mrs Murphy<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Back to school<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first half of term one has flown in and the new routines are second nature to us all.\u00a0 Thank you for your support and reinforcement of this.\u00a0 Staff have spent this time celebrating and building on \u2018lockdown\u2019 learning whilst focusing on literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>You will be aware that a lot of learning is happening outdoors.\u00a0 As we move into Autumn, I ask that you please send your child to school dressed appropriately for the inclement weather.\u00a0 All Primary children should wear outdoor sports gear on a Wednesday, Thursday and P1-3s on a Tuesday also.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Health and Wellbeing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Due to the amount of energy the children use through the increase in physical and outdoor activities, I will be providing an additional healthy snack.\u00a0 Your child may choose one piece of fruit or a cereal bar after \u2018Go Noodle\u2019 or at breaktime &#8211; if they wish.\u00a0 If you would rather your child didn\u2019t have an extra snack, please let us know.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Parent Council<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The AGM will be held online within the first term.\u00a0 New members are always welcome-please let me know if you wish to join and I will send you a link when details are confirmed.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Childsmile<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We are currently not toothbrushing in the EYC and school, as per guidelines.\u00a0 Thank you to Childsmile for providing every child with a toothbrush and toothpaste for home.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">School Improvement<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are so many exciting things happening in our EYC and school this year, please see improvement priorities attached.\u00a0 Each of the classes will send out monthly blogs alongside the newsletter to update you.\u00a0 Teachers will also be making short phone calls home on the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> to let you know how your child is doing.\u00a0 If you miss the call, they will leave a message-please contact the school if you would like further information.<\/p>\n<p>Staff are continuing their Leadership of Learning work from last year, with further study planned across many curricular areas.\u00a0 The senior class pupils have also nominated themselves to be subject ambassadors and will work with staff to lead and develop this year\u2019s curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>Staff and pupils are working hard to achieve accreditation in a number of areas this year: Silver Rights Respecting Schools; Digital Schools Award; Gold School Sport Award.\u00a0 We will keep you updated with our progress.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Pupil Leadership<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Congratulations to Molly and Rosie who have been voted School Captain and Vice-Captain.\u00a0 They will be instrumental in leading school improvement as the year goes on.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Active Schools<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We are delighted to have Connor and Aaron working with us for a full day every Thursday.\u00a0 They are helping to develop pupil leadership skills;
