This morning P1-7 walked down to the river to take part in some outdoor learning activities. The children found bugs, insects and flowers and used magnifying glasses to explore them more closely. The children also made some autumn jewellery, had an autumn scavenger hunt and made homes for birds. A fun and adventurous morning was had by all.

Outdoor Learning Afternoon
P1-7 have been busy tidying the shed, collecting sticks for the bug hotel, moving sand in to the nursery and outdoor classroom and filling the planters with soil. It’s been a very productive afternoon!
Oscar and Rhiannon’s Lunchtime Club
Oscar and Rhiannon started their Hot Wheels Cars Technology lunchtime club today and it was very successful! They had so many pupils wanting to join that they have had to limit each session to 8 people. The pupils enjoyed playing with the jumps and ramps.
A Busy Morning Full of Activities
Everyone came together this morning to enjoy some pumpkin soup and bread. Thank you to P1/2 and P5/6/7 for making these. The rain didn’t stop us enjoying our Halloween/Autumn scavenger hunts. The children have been busy across the classes participating in a number of activities.
Ivy House Reward Afternoon
Ivy house enjoyed their reward afternoon at the park and MUGA on Friday afternoon. Great fun was had by all!
School Captains Meet with Mrs Templeton
Our school captains and vice captains met with Mrs Templeton on Friday. The captains and vice captains gathered the views and thoughts from their house groups to share with Mrs Templeton and they worked together to see how they could improve our school. Pupil voice is important at Ballantrae primary and this ties in with the UNCRC(United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) article 12 – Children have the right to give their opinion freely on issues that affect them. Adults should listen and take children seriously.
Outdoor Learning at the River
The whole school and nursery took part in an outdoor learning afternoon at the river today. The pupils found insects and enjoyed looking at them through the magnifying glasses. They also did some tree rubbings and outdoor art. It was lovely to see all the pupils playing together and enjoying the autumn sunshine.
Lots of learning in P3/4/5
Primary 3/4/5 have been learning about multiplication and repeated addition. The children have developed their descriptive writing skills by writing about the classroom and outdoor classroom. Group work concentrated on communication and listening skills. Science has been all linked to Space and the children have been developing their skills of working scientifically by gathering/recording information and data and choosing ways to carry out a fair test.
Basketball
Today we further developed our basketball skills of dribbling, passing and shooting. We were able to give feedback on what we had done well and give suggestions as to how to improve our performances.
