Senior Phase: Music Technology

Music Technology in Ayr Academy encourages and fosters creativity in students using professional equipment and software.

The course offers lots of choice and is therefore suited to anyone who has an interest in how music or sound is recorded, manipulated and processed for use in any situation. This is taught through a studio-like environment where various projects are undertaken by pupils. These range from creating audiobooks, radio broadcasts and multitrack song recordings to sound effect design for video games and films using the industry-leading recording software Pro Tools from S3 and Mixcraft in S1 and S2.

Pupils gain and develop transferrable skills throughout their journey in Music Technology in project management, critical and analytical thinking, working to a brief and developing creativity.

Music Technology is good preparation for anyone considering a potential career in the Music or Creative industries. It is good preparation for anyone considering a degree in Music, Music Technology, Sound Production or Sound Engineering, however the transferable skills learnt and developed on the course can be utilised in any course or profession where project management, working to deadlines, and liaising with a client or colleagues are required.
