Dyslexia<\/strong>
\nDyslexia Scotland<\/a> is an excellent website for up-to-date information, advice and support.
\nDyslexia Scotland also have a dedicated website for children aged 8+ called Dyslexia Unwrapped<\/a><\/p>\n

Neurodiversity\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Edinburgh has created information booklets for parents of children who they think may be neurodiverse or have been diagnosed with neurodiversity. \u00a0\u2018Neurodivergent\u2019 refers to a broad range of conditions including for example autism, ADHD, DCD\/Dyspraxia, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and those born prematurely (amongst other diagnosis).\u00a0 However, use of these booklets need not be restricted to those with a diagnoses.
\nThese booklets are relevant for those children who have thinking differences that arise for any reason.<\/p>\n

Please contact your child’s class teacher if you wish to discuss this further.\u00a0 Mrs Park (P1-3), Mrs Stewart (P4-7)\u00a0 or Mrs Meney (Pupil Support) can help also.<\/p>\n

The NEST has been set up to empower individuals and their families living with neurodevelopmental differences such as Autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).Our service is for children, young people and adults. It is open to anyone in Ayrshire who wants to contact\u00a0 about neurodevelopmental differences such as Autism, ADHD or FASD. You do not need a diagnosis to access our service.<\/p>\n

South Ayrshire Council provides a Young Carers service for children who have caring responsibilities.<\/p>\n

Family First<\/strong><\/p>\n

This cluster support is based in Belmont Academy and provide targeted support for children and families . Please speak to Mrs Meney for further information.<\/p>\n

The Exchange <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Exchange Counselling Service is a targeted service for children who may be struggling emotionally. More information can be found on their website. https:\/\/www.exchange-counselling.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Hospital stays <\/strong><\/p>\n

We were recently passed information about a patient fund for when children are admitted to hospital. I hope no-one is in this position but wanted to share the information encase it is ever needed.<\/p>\n

The Young Patient Family Fund reimburses food \/ travel costs etc for carers of children who are admitted as inpatients<\/strong> at hospital.<\/p>\n
