{"id":5161,"date":"2022-01-20T12:29:48","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T12:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/wpsnursery\/?p=5161"},"modified":"2022-01-20T12:29:48","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T12:29:48","slug":"williamsburgh-parent-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/wpsnursery\/2022\/01\/20\/williamsburgh-parent-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Williamsburgh Parent Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/wpsnursery\/files\/2022\/01\/PT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5162\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/wpsnursery\/files\/2022\/01\/PT.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR PARENTS, CARERS AND OUR WIDER WILLIBUGS COMMUNITY<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We are desperately looking for volunteers to join our Williamsburgh Parent Council.\u00a0 At present, we have a core support of only a handful of parents, who currently have children in P7, P6, P4 and P1.\u00a0 We appreciate that everyone has their own busy lives, we are not asking for a huge commitment \u2013 but looking for new ideas, energy, and suggestions from others.\u00a0 We are always trying to improve facilities and experiences for all the children at the school and nursery.<\/p>\n<p>Our monthly meetings (currently held online on the first Tuesday of each month) are a great way to engage with what\u2019s going on in the school, with Head, Depute and Principal Teachers also attending.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last 5 years, we have through various channels raised thousands of pounds for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Repairing trim trail and other outdoor equipment over numerous years<\/li>\n<li>Supplying exercise equipment in the playground<\/li>\n<li>Purchasing PE equipment<\/li>\n<li>Purchasing school ties for all P7\u2019s leavers<\/li>\n<li>Purchasing gym bags for all P1\u2019s just starting out<\/li>\n<li>Purchasing the new popular House System Display and tokens<\/li>\n<li>Stationary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also (pre Covid) ran the following events for the kids:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>P1 \u2013 Pizza Treasure Hunt night<\/li>\n<li>3,4 &amp; 5 \u2013 Halloween Discos<\/li>\n<li>P6 \u2013 Chill night \/ film nights, make overs etc<\/li>\n<li>P7 \u2013 Leavers do<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As well as fundraising (pre Covid) as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Christmas Carol concert \/ home baking stall<\/li>\n<li>Spring &amp; Summer Fayre<\/li>\n<li>Collections in playground for dress down days<\/li>\n<li>Art competitions with prizes for winners<\/li>\n<li>Ladies\u2019 night<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also champion the concerns we hear from parents and carers.
