Exploring our outside ‘messy’ area!

We are so happy to finally have some sunshine as we love playing outside! On Monday, we spent most of our day in our newly refurbished messy area outside. We’ve got a new mud kitchen area accessorized with exciting and interesting resources. To add to our fun, there is an outside whiteboard to make lovely pictures and explore writing as well as a bedsheet to spray with paints of different colours – we can’t wait to see if the rain does anything to our paint! The boys and girls have had so much fun exploring our area and using it for different purposes – from being creative investigators to active exercises using hula hoops and balls. At the end of the day, the children suggested that we have a story outside, under our canopy, instead of going inside – and so we did! It felt so summery! We also discussed the importance of wearing sun cream outside, as the sunshine can be very strong.

M: “Can I have a go, it looks so much fun!”
E: “Look how high I can shoot the paint!”
K: “I’m writing a letter to my new school.”
L: “Would you like soup or a burger today?”
R: “I can hula-hoop, look at me!”
J: “I really love playing outside!”
G: “I only like playing outside when it’s sunny.”

Outdoor play

We are finally getting some sunshine! The boys and girls are super keen to spend most of their time outside. We are using all of our outdoor resources, which encourage us to problem solve and use our imagination. The children are working together to build bridges, slides, cars and a lot of models!

M: “We have built it together, we worked together and we did it!”
L: “That’s great teamwork!”

“The Experience” in Hillington has kindly donated spare go-kart tyres, which the boys and girls have been having super fun with! The old tyres suddenly became airoplanes, cars, flying cars and seats!

A: “If you put the flat tyres there, we can make a flying car.”
L: “Look, I can roll it far away!”
R: “I’m going to make a big tower with the tyres.”

Some boys and girls have been exploring our big “bobbins” and planks of wood and have put together a big ramp to walk on. The children have been using their imagination to a fantastic extent and all of the staff are super proud of the results!
