Educational Psychologists (EPs) use their knowledge of psychology, child development, education and learning to help children and young people make the most of their lives, particularly in educational settings.
An EP views children and young people’s development and learning in the context of their environment, especially their educational environment. This approach emphasises educational needs rather than diagnostic labels and seeks to take an evidence-based approach to practice.
EPs seek to maintain and develop a quality educational psychology service which:
- fulfils statutory obligations
- reflects Renfrewshire Council’s policies and priorities
- promotes consultation with stakeholders
- is delivered in a fair and consistent manner
- promotes social inclusion
- operates in the best interests of all children”
The Educational Psychology Service produces various guides which outline the work of the service. You can access information for parents/carers here and for young people here.
Our Link Educational Psychologist is Vicki Greenwood. If you feel that your child needs the support of our EP, contact the school directly to discuss your concerns with Mrs McNair.
