Bute Room:

All babies have been settling back into nursery as we return from the summer holidays.

Building on our relationships with our keyworkers we have enjoyed exploring our environment with trips around the local community.

Lewis Room:

Children are settling into the new nursery routine and building relationships with staff and peers. Children have been learning to be more independent pouring their own milk into a cup and onto the cereal. all children are being supported to self select lunch and snack, and have been practicing how to put on their outdoor clothing. We have been exploring the local environment, splashing in puddles and balancing on logs.

We have introduced Makaton signs around the playroom to help children communicate their needs, the children have been enjoying new resources in the playroom, the sand and water tray. Could we please remind you to bring in nappies, wipes and a change of clothes for your child to be kept in their bag within the room.

Skye Room:

Since settling back into nursery routine the children have been busy learning as they play. In the home corner the children have been participating in baking. They have enjoyed baking scones. The children have been learning about recipes and measurements, as well as the importance of hygiene while baking. In the creative area the children have been exploring colour and emotions from inspiration using the book “The Colour Monster”. In the block play most children are visiting the area, an environment which invites exploration and creativity. There is a high level of engagement as they are challenged with problem solving. The children are developing and experiencing many skills as they stack, build and create enclosures, they are learning to co-operate, build positive relationships, contribute to conversations and discussions as they enjoy risk play. The children have been taking part in building obstacle courses while learning about safety, assessing and managing risk, building cars has also been a highlight in this area. In the quiet area Jill has been focusing on providing the children with literacy opportunities through pre-writing activities to strengthen fine motor skills: pin boards, magnets and a variety of mark making media.  The children have been learning to recognise their own name and attempting to write it through materials or magnets. The children have also been exploring numeracy through number recognition, counting, looking at dice and domino patterns. The book the children have been learning about and discussing is “Stick Man”
