The Eco warriors have been learning about recycling, reducing and reusing. They have been out in the nursery grounds litter picking and ensuring we recycle paper and put our fruit peelings in our compost bin.
This year our “Action Plan” includes “Litter picking in our nursery grounds, Biodiversity and Being energy efficient.
We collect batteries to recycle, have a spectacle collection box to recycle them , grow flowers, fruit and veg in our garden, reuse recyclable material at our real resources for learning table, encourage children to walk and cycle to nursery and also have a thrift shop that parents can access whenever they choose.
We are hoping to attain our green flag this year and will be forming our eco committee in the new session. If any parents/carers would like to become involved in our group please speak to Karin in the Lewis room for details of our next meeting.

The children in the Eco Committee have been discussing other ways to help the wildlife in and around our garden. They decided that we should have a bird feeder and a greenhouse. Here are some pictures of the children building our new Items.
As part of our recycling programme we collect and recycle old clothes/shoes/curtains and bedding. Here are some pictures of the clothes bin being collected and weighed.
Julie from Dobbies Garden Centre came out and spoke to the children in the 3-5 room about planting and growing a variety of vegetable/fruit and flowers , she even brought along some seeds for us to plant in our planters.
