{"id":3664,"date":"2017-01-13T12:36:16","date_gmt":"2017-01-13T12:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/west\/?p=3664"},"modified":"2017-01-13T12:42:20","modified_gmt":"2017-01-13T12:42:20","slug":"language-centre-newsletter-assessment-and-development-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/west\/2017\/01\/13\/language-centre-newsletter-assessment-and-development-class\/","title":{"rendered":"Language Centre Newsletter &#8211; Assessment and Development Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. \u00a0It\u2019s great to see the children back and hear all their Christmas stories. \u00a0They all enjoyed the school panto and their Christmas party.<\/p>\n<p>After a very busy term 1 we are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable term 2 (January to Easter). \u00a0We hope the children settle well back into their afternoon nursery placements and enjoy a full nursery curriculum. We \u00a0are looking forward to visiting them at their nursery to see how they are each getting on and to share\u00a0strategies and learning targets.<\/p>\n<p>This term we will have a weekly focus on a sound, number song and nursery rhyme. \u00a0We will be teaching skills and knowledge and understanding through our topics of &#8216;Commotion in the Ocean&#8217; and &#8216;Farmyard Hullaballoo&#8217;. \u00a0We will be investigating life under the sea as well as finding out more about work on a farm. This term we will also be working of finding out about the &#8216;Chinese New Year&#8217;. \u00a0We will be performing a dragon dance in the gym and tasting some Chinese food. We will be finding out more about Robert Burns and his work, trying some Scottish food and hopefully trying out some dancing too!\u00a0We will also be working on the children&#8217;s individual targets as stated in their Individual Education Programmes (IEP) through topics and class activities.<\/p>\n<p>Click here for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/public\/west\/uploads\/sites\/2327\/2017\/01\/Weekly-Focus.doc\">weekly-focus<\/a>\u00a0in Assessment and Development Class.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers are keen to work in partnership with parents and strive to keep you informed. \u00a0There will be Parent &#8216;drop in sessions&#8217; on the 24th January and the 28th March \u00a0however please do not hesitate to contact us via the diary or telephone with any concerns.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Sponsored Zumba<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sponsored Zumba was a huge success and we raised over \u00a34,000. \u00a0A huge thank you to those of you who supported us and to Mr.Johnston for leading the activity\u2026. he certainly showed us a few moves that day! The Pupil Council were consulted on how to best spend the money raised and decided that each class will get some money to upgrade their class library. \u00a0We have been busy sourcing books and special deals for both the Language Unit Class and the Assessment and Development Class. The Christmas Fayre was also very successful in raising around \u00a31,500.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>A plea from HT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember no dogs are allowed in the playground.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Smoking is not permitted within the playground or around the school gates.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Put your name on EVERYTHING\u2026.lost property is taking over the school!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please park safely.
