The playrooms are set up to support these 8 curricular areas and ensure all children have an interesting and stimulating time at Nursery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy &amp; English<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This focuses on early reading and writing skills as well as supporting children in their talking and listening skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numeracy &amp; Mathematics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Early number skills are developed as well as mathematical concepts such as shape, time, length etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This focuses on all aspects of health from emotional well being to mental health as well as physical health. Physical play is encouraged outdoors as well as indoors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expressive Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This ensures children are afforded the opportunity to be creative in art, drama, dance and music. Their feelings can be expressed through these aspects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We learn about people in the environment such as people who help us. We sometimes learn about people in the past such as Robert Burns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sciences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This focuses on appropriate scientific concepts such as sinking and floating. We also learn about the environment and Eco issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technologies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is all about how things work as well as the acquisition of computer skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Religious &amp;\u00a0Moral Education\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We encourage children to be kind to each other, to share and be a good citizen. The children have the opportunity to learn about celebrations from different religions and cultures.<\/p>\n<p>We are implementing A Curriculum for Excellence and we compile a profile of your child\u2019s successes. We ask that you start off the file by working through an \u201cAll About Me\u201d form with your child. The profile reflects the knowledge and skills that your child has been involved in throughout the year and this is available to look through at all times.\u00a0\u00a0 Please take this opportunity to recognise your child\u2019s achievements. If you would like to add any of your child\u2019s achievements outwith Nursery to this profile then their key worker would be happy to do so. This information is shared with you at our end of thansession parents\u2019 evening.
