Exciting News in the ADC

Last week we got a very special delivery. We need to look after 5 tiny caterpillars! They have been very well behaved but very hungry.

We enjoyed the singing The Hungry Caterpillar song!

Some of us thought the caterpillars had been trying to eat our lunch!

Lockerbie Manor – Thursday 3rd May

There wasn’t a sound from any room this morning when the teachers started knocking doors at 7am. I’m sure many of the children can’t wait for a long lie on Saturday morning!

After another filling breakfast, the morning was spent on the water kayaking and canoeing. Some spent more time in the water and than on it!

After some welcomed hot showers, we had a selection of baked potatoes and fillings for lunch. The afternoon was spent either abseiling, raft building or on the obstacle course. Apologies for the mud in advance!

Tonight our dinner had a takeaway theme with pizzas, donner wraps and wedges. This set us up nicely for our disco tonight where (despite the mud) everyone has turned out in their finery. 💃🕺🏻

Lockerbie Manor – Wednesday 2nd May

The teachers started knocking room doors at 7am this morning. Let’s just say it took a few knocks before a bleary eyed P7 appeared! Breakfast was at 7.30am with the usual choices of a cooked breakfast, cereal, toast, yoghurt and fruit.

The morning activities were blind trail, high ropes, orienteering and raft building. Thankfully the weather has improved and we’re hoping for a dry day however that won’t matter too much when you’re getting wet or very muddy!

Lunch today was delicious where our choices were chicken & chrizo pasta, chicken burger & chips and cheese & onion quiche. There was a salad buffet and fruit available. In the afternoon you can see below the various activities our three working groups participated in. There was even a bit of sun !

For dinner it was a lovely roast beef or roast chicken dinner with plenty of trimmings. After another set of activities we had a picture and general knowledge quiz. Quite a few tired P7s retired to their bed and were sound asleep my 10pm.

Lockerbie Manor – Tuesday 1st May

After a good night’s sleep and only one pupil who needed to be ‘encouraged’ to get out of bed, we were set up for the day with a delicious breakfast. Plenty of cooked breakfasts were devoured and a fair few bowls of cereal were munched! Our morning activity was a hill walk in some beautiful sunny weather where we came across plenty of sheep grazing with their lambs. We were back for lunch just after 12 noon where the choice on offer was sausage rolls, cheese & onion pastie, leek & potato soup and a selection of filled rolls.

This afternoon the children have been busy on the low ropes, crate stacking and fencing. Sadly the weather is taking a turn for the worst but hopefully the rain doesn’t last for too long!

For dinner we had the choice of BBQ chicken, pork steaks or vegetable chilli. All finished off with a lovely chocolate eclair – yum! Afterwards we had groups on the blind trail, climbing and crate stacking. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

A few games of bingo and some tuck shop entertained the children until bedtime at 10.15pm. You’ll note the earlier time as there was quite a few sleepy heads!

Lockerbie Manor – Monday 30th April

We’ve had a great start to our Lockerbie adventure! After arriving and settling in, the children took part in Manor Olympics which was a whole series of games and fun activities. For dinner there was the choice of vegetable curry, chicken hotpot or spaghetti bolognaise with jelly for afters.

The evening activities were fencing, abseiling and orienteering. Thankfully the weather all day was lovely and sunny which always helps!

A treat from the tuck shop and a music quiz finished the night and all the children were sound asleep by 10.30pm.
