Termly House Winners

Maxwellton are the winners of this term’s house competition!

We are having a Beach Party to celebrate on Friday 23rd June.

Children in Maxwellton have been asked that they wear summer beach clothing to this.

School Uniform Reminder

Just a reminder about school uniform as you consider new clothing for next session.

  • Our uniform is grey – skirts or trousers. Castlehead High School wear black;
  • Jumpers, sweatshirts and cardigans should be grey or royal blue;
  • All Primary 7 pupils will need a white shirt and tie for the numerous events that they take part in throughout their last year;
  • Hair accessories are best in colours that complement our uniform;
  • No hooded sweatshirts to be worn in school;
  • No inappropriate logos on jumpers or sweatshirts;
  • All clothing should be appropriate for school. We are aware that some clothing is more suited for after school even though it is in school colours.

On the days when the children are allowed to come in their own clothes, please support us by ensuring that the children are sensibly dressed in comfortable, casual clothing and that they are not wearing skimpy, strappy tops or crop tops.  Outdoor coats and jackets are also needed on these days.  On most of these days, the children will continue to follow their usual timetable so normal PE kit of shorts, T-shirt and clean trainers or sandshoes will be needed.

Thank you for your continued support with uniform.

Westies Walk for Beatson

We had a great day on Friday 19th May raising money for the Beatson Cancer Charity. We had a visit from Amy who came and speak about what our donations will go towards and we had a special visit from Bella the Beatson Bee who came to say hello!

Everyone took part in a walk during the day and some parents came along to participate too. On Saturday 20th May, the staff at West and Maxwellton Nursery walked 10.1 miles from our school to the Beatson in Glasgow.

It was a great couple of days and our fundraising is sitting at an amazing £4,45! There is still time to donate through our Justgiving page www.justgiving.com/westieswalk4beatson

Anti Bullying Week

Last week we held an anti bullying week to highlight how hurtful bullying can be, how we can help each other to stop it and to make sure we fully understand what bullying means.

We had many events/activities during the week: the Pupil Council talked at assembly about bullying; we carried out a bullying survey; we asked parents to come in and help form our bullying policy; we all took part in an anti bullying poster competition; we had lessons on cyber bullying and we draw a self portrait as part of a big display we are making.

The Paisley Daily Express came to see all our work and if you missed us in the paper then have a look below!

Westies Walk for Beatson

On Friday 19th May, pupils and staff are going to take part in a walk to support the Beatson Cancer Charity. Children can wear non uniform for a £1 donation and we ask that they try to wear something yellow on that day.

In the afternoon, every class will participate in a walk in the area immediately around the school. The timetable below shows when the classes will be walking and you are more than welcome to join your child for their walk.

Time Class
10.45-11.15 am West Nursery + Primary 6
11.15-11.45 am Maxwellton Park Nursery + Primary 6
1.15-1.45 pm Primary 3 + Primary 4

To support the Beatson charity even further, our staff will be participating in a 10 mile sponsored walk on Saturday 20th May from West to the Beatson in Glasgow.

We have created a Justgiving page for donations.

We would appreciate if you could share this link with family and friends on social media and encourage as many donations as possible.

Thank you for your continuing support.
