In January the pupils attend part time in the mornings for specialist targeted work, school environment and activities. They attend their mainstream nursery or pre-five centre in the afternoons where they will be included in all events and activities.

  • Assessment is ongoing of pupil’s needs in the areas of language, communication and socialisation
  • Integration with a wider peer group is accessed for all pupils as appropriate – playground, dining hall, assemblies, Nativity etc.
  • A context is developed within which identification of an appropriate longer term school placement can take place
  • Liaison with nurseries and pre-five centres to continually review progress. A review/EST will be held before Christmas holidays then again before Easter holidays to discuss future needs, developments required and placements for starting school in August.

The first meeting will be held before Christmas in preparation for the child resuming their mainstream nursery afternoon placement in January.
