As it went in school bags just before Christmas (busy time) I have reissued to those parents who completed a questionnaire prior to the start of the project. Thanks again for the time taken to complete this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homework Tasks this week-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading<\/strong>&#8211; core reader (reading book);<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spelling<\/strong>&#8211; spelling pattern <em>ow- <\/em>the common words this week are <em>ask<\/em> and <em>food<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please encourage your child to:<\/p>\n<p>Say the word\u00a0\u00a0 e.g. snow<\/p>\n<p>Break it into the sounds e.g. s- n-ow(3 sounds)<\/p>\n<p>Blend it- s&#8230;n\u2026.ow\u2026(stretching out each sound)<\/p>\n<p>Write it (whilst covering the word)<\/p>\n<p>Check it (against the written format)<\/p>\n<p>If possible, tackle one column of spelling on two different nights. Children would benefit from writing a simple sentence this term- starting with a Capital letter, remember finger spaces and to finish with a full stop\/other end punctuation.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a spelling dictation on Friday this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talking Homework-<\/strong>We will mark Burns night (25<sup>th<\/sup> January) by celebrating scots language and music through story, songs, rhymes and dance this week.\u00a0 Children should ask someone at home about their favourite Scottish word and find out what it means.\u00a0 Be ready to share this with the class on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maths-<\/strong> Children have been learning to read numbers to twenty. Colour or \u00a0join to match. On the reverse take the opportunity to practise writing number words from ten to twenty.<\/p>\n<p>Please bring homework folders\/reading books daily, as children will need these at various times during the week.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for your support with homework.
