Electricity<\/h1>\n

Electricity in nature<\/h5>\n

We began by\u00a0investigating static electricity.\u00a0We were able to pick up small pieces of paper and even bend water\u00a0using polystyrene rods. We even made our own\u00a0‘lightning’ –\u00a0which was a shocking experience for the volunteers!<\/p>\n

Next tried\u00a0to figure out how to make the bulb light up using the equipment in our kits.<\/p>\n

In our\u00a0next experiment we found out about conductors and insulators and used this knowledge in our first challenge; to design\u00a0working switches.<\/p>\n

  1. We were given a selection of materials and had to come up with our own design for\u00a0a working switch. Then we tested them by\u00a0connecting them into\u00a0a circuit to control a light bulb.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    2. Our next challenge was to build an electronic quiz game.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    We used our knowledge of conductors and insulators to connect 5 questions to 5 answers using strips of kitchen foil insulated with masking tape.<\/p>\n

    The questions and answers were arranged in a secret, random order.<\/p>\n

    The light bulb\u00a0lit up when we chose the\u00a0 correct answer because the foil completed the circuit.<\/p>\n
