Each school\u2019s clothing policy should be approved by a majority of pupils, parents and staff.<\/p>\n<p>There are forms of dress which are unacceptable in school, such as items of clothing which:<br \/>\npotentially, encourage faction (such as football colours)<br \/>\ncould cause offence ( such as anti-religious symbolism or political slogans)<br \/>\ncould cause health and safety difficulties, such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings, track suits of inflammable material in practical classes;<br \/>\ncould cause damage to flooring;<br \/>\ncarry advertising, particularly for alcohol or tobacco;<br \/>\ncould be used to inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so; and<br \/>\nare valuable or expensive items of clothing or jewellery which presents a security issue for the school<\/p>\n<p>Under no circumstances will pupils be deprived of any educational benefit as a result of not wearing uniform and, in particular, pupils will not be denied access to examinations as a result of not wearing uniform.<\/p>\n<p>Parents of children receiving Family Income Support, Family Credit, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Rebate will normally be entitled to monetary grants or vouchers for footwear and clothing for their children. Approval of any requests for such grants made by parents in different circumstances are at the discretion of the Director of Education. Information and application forms may be obtained from schools and from Area and Education Offices.<\/p>\n<p>Parents are asked to assist schools and the authority by ensuring that valuable items and unnecessarily expensive items of clothing are not brought to school. Parents should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items and any claims submitted are likely to be met only where the authority can be shown to have been negligent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Uniform<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most parents of pupils in Wallace Primary School wish children to wear school uniform. The Parent Council and staff all encourage the wearing of our uniform which is set out below<\/p>\n<p>BLAZER\u00a0WITH BADGE<br \/>\nNAVY \/ GREY SMART TROUSERS \/ SKIRT \/ PINAFORE<br \/>\nNAVY \u00a0\/ GREY PULLOVER \/ CARDIGAN (BADGED OR UNBADGED)<br \/>\nNAVY\u00a0 SWEATSHIRT (BADGED OR UNBADGED)<br \/>\nPLAIN WHITE SHIRT\/ BLOUSE<br \/>\nSKY BLUE SCHOOL POLO SHIRT (BADGED OR UNBADGED)<br \/>\nSCHOOL TIE\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BLUE CHECKED SUMMER DRESS<\/p>\n<p>For special occasions such as class photographs, school concerts or school choir performances, we respectfully ask that pupils wear a white shirt and school tie.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Parents are asked to supply gym shoes (preferably pumps with velcro or elastic slip on style\u00a0&#8211; not lace ups), shorts and polo shirt for Physical Education. In the interests of safety and hygiene <\/span><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Arial;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Arial;font-size: medium\">no jewellery is permitted to be worn during P.E. lessons. <\/span><\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Pupils will not be allowed to participate in the physical aspect of activities wearing earrings. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>We encourage children to be outdoors as much as possible during breaks and where learning opportunities arise, it is therefore important that pupils come to school suitably dressed for our ever changing weather. Waterproof jackets should be available and leggings\/jogging trousers may be worn for outdoor P.E. and outdoor learning days.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Parents are asked to name <\/span><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Arial;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Arial;font-size: medium\">all <\/span><\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium\">items of clothing, which makes it easier to be returned. Un-named items will be taken to our lost property area. Lost property is only held in school for one term after which it is donated to the \u2018<\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Arial;font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Arial;font-size: medium\">Ragbag\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: medium\">charity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Information on ordering uniform items with the school or nursery crest can be obtained by contacting the school office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To help keep the inside of classrooms and the gym floor clean, we ask that pupils either clean their outdoor shoes thoroughly or change their footwear when coming inside. We ask that boys wear black school shoes; these may be trainer type but not &#8216;fashion&#8217; trainers (eg Converse).
