Attendance/Absence

ATTENDANCE AT SCHOOL Section 30 of the 1980 Education Act lays a duty on every parent of a child of ‘school age’ to ensure that their child attends school regularly. Attendance must be recorded twice a day, morning and afternoon.

Attendance and Late-coming

Please remember to call the school to inform us of your child’s absence. School office is open from 8.30am.

We will send a text out for any unexplained absence and this will be followed by a phone call. When we do not hear from you we become concerned for your child’s safety and have a strict policy to follow. This includes home visits by school staff.

We continue to monitor attendance on a monthly basis and letters are issued to all pupils with less than 90% attendance or more than 5 instances of late-coming.

For any holidays during term time a letter should be sent to the school office. All holidays during term time will be recorded as unauthorised on the attendance register.

There will be no 100% attendance certificates for the year 2018/19 and beyond.
