Health and Wellbeing

Primary 5 have been learning what to do in an emergency situation. Today pupils were learning about the recovery position, when to use it and how to place someone into the position correctly.  Pupils were also able to practice their new skill on one another.

Using Descriptive Language

Miss Montgomery’s literacy class have been working on using descriptive language to enhance our writing. Today, we focused on our five senses to describe a setting. We used our desks to make notes about each image and then created a short piece of writing using our notes.

HT Update

A short week but an amazing week at Wallace!

We had two amazing book events hosted by Primary 3 and 5! I was so impressed by their wonderful work linked to their books! Both classes were so engaged in the texts and it inspired wonderful reflection, art work and fantastic writing from all pupils! Huge well done to Primary 3 and 5!

We had a great Valentines Disco where the children demonstred excellent behaviour! Well done to all,  HUGE thanks to our Parent Council for organising it and to all staff and parent helpers  for coming along on the night.

Today we had a group of parent volunteers come in to school to work on our school book banding, they finished the whole task in one day! We are so grateful to them for their support!

We had a wondeful assembly today where children enjoyed a visit from Laura from St Vincent’s Hospice. She told us all about their wondeful work, we are very keen to develop community links with local organisations. At assembly we also enjoyed a story together and then we celebrated pupils with excellent behaviour and red carpet achievements! Photos to follow!

This afternoon Mrs Wilkie and some P7 pupils visited Capability Scotland to continue to develop our community links! Our pupils were excellent amabassadors for the school and we are very proud of them!

Also today our wonderful Art Club re started, our pupils left with lovely sketch books and were buzzing with ideas for decorating our new school library!

What a wonderful week! #proudheadteacher

P5 Freeze Frames

Primary 5 have been learning about famous inventors and scientists.  Today we learned all about Alexander Fleming and his discovery of penicillin.  We worked in groups to decide which part of the discovery story was the most significant and acted it out using a ‘Freeze Frame’ technique.  We shared our scene with the rest of the class then explained why we felt it was the most important part.
