Primary 5 have been learning how to create suspense and build up tension in their writing. This is a useful skill as it should make the reader want to keep reading! Working with a partner, each pair wrote a paragraph to describe a spooky picture. They then spent time reading each other’s work and offered some feedback. All of the paragraphs were amazing – well done everyone!

Superhero Update
Primary 1
There is no homework this week as we are working hard in preparation for our Open Afternoon this Wednesday. Children can come to school in Superhero clothes if they wish.
P3 – ‘I Am Me’ Scotland
Primary 3 had a fantastic visit from Debbie and Megan from ‘I Am Me’ Scotland. They spoke to us about what it means to have a disability and how people who have a disability are often treated. We watched a short movie about a boy and a dog who both had disabilities. We also learned that when we see the ‘I Am Me’ Keep Safe sticker in a public place then it is a safe place to go if you are lost or need help.
Smartie Challenge
Thank you very to the Parent Council for organising the Smartie Challenge which raised an impressive £995.84.
The draw took place at assembly on Friday and all winners were delighted to receive a cinema voucher.
Well done to everyone in the nursery class and primary school who participated and contributed to this very successful fundraising event. (Succeeding Together)

Open Afternoon
Just a reminder – Primary 1 have been working so hard on our Superhero topic and we are so excited to announce that family are now invited to our Open Afternoon on Wednesday 2nd May at 1.45pm. Invitations are in homework folders/bags. We will meet you in the gym hall at 1.45pm for a little surprise then you will be accompanied to the classroom by your child. It’s a great chance for you to see all our hard work. There will be lots of fun activities, a raffle and a ‘chuck it in the bucket’ for Radio Clyde’s Cash 4 Kids Superhero Day, we are also getting a mention on the radio next week! Children can come to school in superhero clothes that day if they wish. Adults can dress up too! The Open Afternoon will end at 2.45pm and children will be dismissed as usual at 3pm (if there are any changes to hometime arrangements on that day can you let us know in advance, thanks). Hope to see you then!
Renfrewshire Schools Primary Track and Field Championship
The P7 and P6 Track and Field team will be taking part in the Renfrewshire Championship on Wednesday, 2nd May at the ON-X sports centre, and we are hoping for a great result!
A letter has been sent out to all those taking part and I would like to just give a wee reminder that all the consent forms should be returned asap if they haven’t already been returned.
The team will leave Wallace at about 9.20am and return around 2.30pm. As most of the day wil be spent outdoors please make sure the children are suitably attired for a day outdoors. The team consists of 10 boys and 10 girls and they will all participate in 1 track and 1 field event.
Let’s hope the team are successful and wish them all the best for Wednesday!
