P5 Easter Egg hunt

Primary 5 had an egg hunt with a difference this afternoon…Easter eggs containing multiple choice questions were hidden around the class! The questions covered some of the topics we learned about throughout our Inventors topic. Each multiple choice answer was linked to a letter and the letters spelled out the name of our next inventor…ROY LICHTENSTEIN. He invented ‘pop art’ which we will be learning more about after the Easter holiday!

Stuart Reid Assembly

A huge thank you to @StuartReidBooks for a fantastic assembly this morning! Stuart told us all about his journey to become an author and about his books. It was a fun, engaging and motivating assembly.  What a way to end the week!

I’d also like to thank the Reading Rangers for inviting Stuart to Wallace Primary.  The group wrote an email to Stuart and helped organise the event.  Well done everyone!

P5 Maths Challenge

Mrs Robertson’s Numeracy class have been learning about the history and development of money.  As part of this, pupils were asked to research the currency of a chosen country and present their findings to the class.  Today, everyone got the chance to share their learning.

I had a fantastic time listening to everyone’s information.  Thank you so much for putting in so much effort!

P5 Freeze Frames

Primary 5 have been learning about famous inventors and scientists.  Today we learned all about Alexander Fleming and his discovery of penicillin.  We worked in groups to decide which part of the discovery story was the most significant and acted it out using a ‘Freeze Frame’ technique.  We shared our scene with the rest of the class then explained why we felt it was the most important part.

P5 Wolf Wilder Showcase

@AttainRen #parentalengagement #wolfwilder #weloveliteracy Thank you to all of the parents/grandparents/family members and friends who came along to see our Wolf Wilder Showcase.  We loved studying this book and were delighted to share our work with everyone.  We look forward to sharing our work with all of the classes and the Nursery today!!

P5 Learn Scots

#ochaye #jordansnewjaiket @attainren

Primary 5 have been learning about Scots and have been translating Scots words into English.  We read ‘Jordan’s New Jaiket’ by Matthew Fitt and we really enjoyed it.  Mrs Robertson asked us to find the meaning of 8 Scots words: neb, braw, claes, jouk, semmit, lugs, muckle and breeks.  We used our reading skills to identify the words then we tried to find the meaning of them.  It was tricky but fun! Do you know the meaning of them?

We look forward to learning more Scots words!

Book Week 2017

What a fantastic week we had during #BookWeekScot @AttainRen !

On Monday, we had a Book Week Event.  There were so many things going on – a Literacy presentation for parents, a Reading Cafe for children, book quizzes, recommendation stalls and much more!  There were leaflets with information about Literacy in the Nursery-P1, P1-P3 and P4-7.  These will soon be available to download on our website. We had a lot of positive feedback from the Event.  Click below to read some of the lovely comments.

Pupil Evaluations from the event and Parent Evaluations from the event.

Throughout the week we had lots going on.  P4-7 and P1-3 wrote books! Each stage wrote one chapter then passed it on.  The finished products are amazing! Classes also created a reading display and transformed their libraries into cosy reading areas.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Event on Monday and to all staff and pupils for their hard work during Book Week.  We can’t wait for Book Week 2018!

Talent Show Auditions!

It’s that time of year again!   Preparations are underway for our annual Talent Show.  In previous years we have had musicians, singers, dancers, pianists, gymnasts and cheerleaders to name a few! Each stage will put forward two acts for the event on Friday 8th December.

Before the main event, each class will hold auditions to decide on the two acts going forward.  Classes are holding their auditions on different dates so please see below for audition details.  On audition days, pupils will need to bring in everything they need for their audition.

Good luck everyone!

Audition Dates
