Homework Tasks this week
Reading– core reader (reading book);
Spelling– spelling pattern ea– the common words this week all have the sound ea in them which should help.
Please encourage your child to:
Say the word e.g. leaf
Break it into the sounds e.g. l-ea-f(3 sounds)
Blend it- l..ea…f(stretching out each sound)
Write it (whilst covering the word)
Check it (against the written format)
If possible, tackle one column of spelling on two different nights. An active spelling grid is in the front cover of the literacy homework jotter. You should pick one to try on a third night. Children would benefit from writing a simple sentence this term- starting with a Capital letter, remember finger spaces and to finish with a full stop/other end punctuation.
There will be a spelling dictation on Friday this week.
Maths- Children have been working on partitioning numbers to 20 (and beyond) into 10 and extras. This activity will help develop your child’s understanding of numbers including place value.
Looking for an extra challenge? Ask your child
How many would I have altogether if I had 3 lots of 10 and 4 (or 4 ones) (34)
Try with other numbers to 50 and beyond (up to 99)
Please bring homework folders/reading books daily, as children will need these at various times during the week.
Thanks for your support with homework.
