Planning your revision
Being organised and planning your revision ahead of exams is one of the most important things you can do. You can start by looking at the exam timetable and making sure you know when all your exams are going to be:

You can also download an app from the SQA which has all the exam dates on it.
Here are some other useful tips for planning your studying:
- Try to get into a habit of studying regularly – not just in the days before your exam. Do short bursts of revision every day
- Plan your Easter holidays and study leave carefully – do little chunks of studying for different subjects and break it up with rewards of fun things so you can focus
- Write your study plan down somewhere and stick to it! Tick things off when you complete them – that way you’ll feel like you’re making progress.
- Focus on revising areas you find difficult or challenging – if you are already very confident on part of your subject, don’t keep revising it! Focus on the tricky bits until you get as equally good at those. Remember a growth mindset!
- Find out if music helps you study or not – for some people it is a distraction, for others it keeps them on task. Find a playlist that suits you and use it to focus your studying.
- Set a timer on your phone – say 15 minutes – and do some really focussed revision without any distractions – that means not looking at your notifications at all! Then reward yourself with a few minutes of checking your phone or something else that you enjoy.
