Thank you for your interest in St. Peter\u2019s Primary School.<\/p>\n

School\u00a0years should be\u00a0very exciting and enjoyable\u00a0times for children and their families. Everyone at St. Peter\u2019s Primary is committed to supporting you and your child as you continue to develop your relationship with us. We want you to very much feel part of the school community and enjoy the welcoming, happy and friendly ethos that exists here.<\/p>\n

We serve the Roman Catholic population in Glenburn and surrounding areas, the school forms a three way relationship with the home and the church.<\/p>\n

The child is at the centre of everything we do. The school strives to cater for the needs of every child, we want all children to be active members of the school and wider community. Our wish is for everyone to feel valued and for them in turn to value others.<\/p>\n

St. Peter\u2019s Primary School supports its children to develop as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. We are very committed to the promotion of healthy and active lifestyles, sustainable communities and lifelong learning.<\/p>\n

We continuously involve pupils and work in partnership with parents to set goals which are realistic and attainable and we support every child to reach their full potential in all they do. Our aim is that all children who come to St. Peter\u2019s will feel happy and safe and will be able to read, write, listen, talk, be numerate, healthy and active. It is also an aim of the school to equip each child with the skills to enjoy and be prosperous in their adult lives, and by their efforts contribute to the wider community and the world in which they live.<\/p>\n

We aim to provide equality of opportunity for all our pupils and foster in our children an awareness of equal opportunities and justice for themselves and for all others in the world.<\/p>\n

We strive to do this in partnership with each and every parent from within our school community.<\/p>\n

We will:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 offer all children and young people a free school place
\n\u2022 provide school premises which meet health and safety standards
\n\u2022 provide information on your child\u2019s progress
\n\u2022 provide religious and moral education for your child
\n\u2022 promote parent involvement in your child(ren)\u2019s learning and our schools
\n\u2022 provide information on school activities
\n\u2022 provide 25 hours of class contact time in each normal school week for pupils of primary-school age, and provide 27.5 of class contact time in each normal school week for pupils of secondary school age
\n\u2022 help secondary school aged pupils prepare for vocational, further and higher education<\/p>\n

Pupils will have opportunities for:
\n\u2022 personal and social development
\n\u2022 music, cultural activities and creativity
\n\u2022 access to healthier lifestyles and sports activities
\n\u2022 community involvement<\/p>\n

You can also expect:
\n\u2022 a formal written report on your child\u2019s progress
\n\u2022 an annual report on progress within the school improvement plan
\n\u2022 an opportunity to have a formal meeting with your child\u2019s class teacher or teachers
\n\u2022 our support to meet your child\u2019s needs
\n\u2022 regular reports on the quality of our schools<\/p>\n

How can you help?<\/strong><\/p>\n

By law you must make sure your child receives education. As a parent you can help your child by:
\n\u2022 making sure your child goes to school regularly
\n\u2022 encouraging and supporting your children with any homework they are given
\n\u2022 showing that you are interested in how your child is getting on at school
\n\u2022 encouraging your child to respect the school and the whole school community
\n\u2022 being involved in the school<\/p>\n
