
We are currently working towards the Reading Schools Gold Award, a prestigious initiative designed to promote reading for pleasure within our school community. This journey not only enhances the literacy skills of our learners but also fosters a deep-seated love for reading. We understand the vital role that families and the wider community play in this endeavour; thus, we are keen to involve them at every stage of our journey.
Research confirms that engaging with literature for pleasure significantly supports equity and wellbeing, while also positively impacting learners’ attainment. Furthermore, it nurtures essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, empathy, and resilience. By prioritising reading, we aim to create an environment where every learner feels valued and inspired to explore the world through books, thereby forging connections that extend beyond the classroom.
