Welcome

The pupils and staff of St. Fillan’s Primary School extend a warm welcome to all. We are situated in the village of Houston, nestled in the heart of the Scottish countryside. Surrounded by rolling hills and the charm of village life, our school offers a nurturing and vibrant learning environment for children aged 5 to 12. With small class sizes and a strong sense of community, we provide individualised attention to each child, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated staff fosters a love of learning, encouraging curiosity and creativity while embracing the rich cultural heritage of our local area.

At our school, outdoor learning plays a vital role in the curriculum. We take full advantage of our beautiful rural setting, incorporating nature walks, wildlife studies, and hands-on environmental projects. Our spacious school grounds offer endless opportunities for exploration and play, allowing children to develop a strong connection with the natural world. These experiences not only enhance their education but also promote well-being and a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Our close-knit village community is at the heart of everything we do. Parents, families, and residents are actively involved in school life, we have close links to our local Parish Church where we work as a family to promote the Gospel Values.  We strive to instil values of kindness, respect, and resilience in our pupils, preparing them to be responsible citizens both in our village and beyond. Whether in the classroom or outdoors, our primary school offers a unique and enriching educational experience, celebrating the beauty of learning in a village setting.
