St Charles’ Nursery
At St Charles’ Nursery we have 50 children in the morning and 50 in the afternoon in our 3-5 rooms. We also offer 2.5 day placements and wraparound. We have 10 children in the morning and 10 in the afternoon in our 2-3 room. All information regarding wraparound and criteria for a place in the 2-3 room is available from our school office.
These standards have been developed by a national working group involved in the implementation of the key oral health initiatives announced in the Scottish Executive document ‘Modernising NHS Dental Services Improving Children’s Oral Health’
Daily toothbrushing with a suitable flouride toothpaste is an effective means of helping to prevent decay and supervised toothbrushing programmes in nursery and school settings lie at the heart of the Scottish Executives oral health initiatives for younger children.
All our staff have been fully trained in the toothbrushing programme.
What to Wear
Children are encouraged to wear clothes for nursery which are appropriate for a wide range of activities each day, e.g. painting, sand, water, outdoor play. There are times when accidents with paint or water may occur and a spare set of clothes should be left at nursery on childrens pegs. All items of clothing which may be removed should be clearly marked with the child’s name.
Stay & Play
Parents are invited into our nursery for Stay & Play throughout the year. During the session they will be invited into the nursery to share the experience with their child. They will also be invited to stay for tea and coffee with other parents. If parents would like agencies to visit to give information then this can be arranged.
