Curriculum for Excellence has been introduced to raise standards of learning and teaching for all 3 to 18 year olds.\u00a0 It aims to help prepare children with the knowledge and skills they need in a fast changing world.\u00a0 A key aim of Curriculum for Excellence is for every child to experience a broad general education from the early years until the end of S3.<\/p>\n

Renfrewshire and GIRFEC<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Renfrewshire’s GIRFEC policy is intended to ensure that children and their families receive the help they need when they need it.<\/p>\n

The GIRFEC approach ensures that when we provide support, it is based on the level of need for each child.<\/p>\n

The GIRFEC approach ensures that anyone providing that support puts the child – and their family – at the centre.<\/p>\n

GIRFEC is not only important for everyone who works with children – it is also important for many people who work with adults who look after children.<\/p>\n

Practitioners need to work together to support families, and where appropriate, take early action at the first signs of any difficulty – rather than only getting involved when a situation has already reached crisis point.\u00a0 This means working across organisational boundaries; putting children and their families at the heart of decision making and giving all our children the best possible start in life.<\/p>\n
