Response to your questions about schools and nurseries

Earlier this month, Renfrewshire Council asked parents and carers to submit their questions on schools and nurseries. Thank you to everyone who took part, there was a phenomenal response with more than 1,000 questions.

Your most-asked questions were put to Steven Quinn, Director of Children’s Services, which you can see at www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/coronavirus-schools. You can also find answers to many more questions there too.

Thank you for your continued patience and support for our school/nursery during this difficult time. We hope to see you back in our school/nursery as soon as it is safe to do so.

Riverbrae are creating an art/photography project called ‘Outside from the Inside’.

At this difficult time, we are all missing each other very much, it is very hard to spend so much time away from our friends however many of us have discovered we are artists, bakers, explorers even scientists.

What have you discovered about yourself? Perhaps it’s artwork you are proud of, cakes you have baked, scientific discoveries you have made or simply your favourite toy?

We want to share your wonderful, talents and achievements.  In celebration of international arts week (25th – 31st May) Riverbrae are creating an art/photography project called ‘Outside from the Inside’.

If you would like to participate in our project ‘Outside from the Inside’ we are asking you to submit photographs using the frame provided (as shown in video) these will then be brought together in the form of a collage. Lets stay creative together !

Post your photograph in Google classrooms for  Friday 22 May  2020.

Online Olympics for P1-7 pupils

News alert! Starting today Riverbrae School is taking part in the Renfrewshire  Online Olympics for P1-7 pupils. These are the first links to the #OnlineOlympics. Pupils can practise an activity all week and then upload their best one off scores to the cognito link attached before 11.59pm on the 17th May as  this link will close at midnight and a new link will be created for the following week activity.

This week’s activity is star jumps. As our school song says, we are all different in our own ways but we all laugh and play! So let’s  get creative- what’s your version of a star jump?! ⭐️

We believe in #equity and #inclusion and we have special thinkers in our school! Not all of us can do the star jumps in the same way that we see in video clip. So what does your star jump look like?

Hope you have fun practising!

News from Riverbrae

29 April 2020

Dear Parent / Carer

We could never have predicted the world that we now find ourselves in and the new challenges that we are experiencing and feeling. However, despite this it is a very proud time to be part of the Riverbrae community. Our staff, parents and pupils have risen to the challenge and we continue to work hard to deliver quality experiences for all our children and young people using Google classrooms.

While our school may be closed our staff are working from home to ensure that our children and young people are provided with a variety of tasks and activities to keep everyone going. The creativity and variety of the tasks from all the staff has been inspiring. We know that everyone’s circumstances are different and that some of children and young people will find it difficult to engage in the activities online, please only do what you can.

Finally, I want to thank everyone for their commitment from everyone in our Riverbrae community. We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty and that it is not easy for everyone, but we will get through this and when we come out the other end we will be there to support you all. Please do not stress if you feel your child is not doing enough, do what is manageable for you and your family. Please know that the staff are missing all their children and young people and that we are all looking forward to welcoming you all back when Riverbrae re-opens.
