Red Nose Day falls on Friday 17th March 2023 this year. To support Red Nose Day, we are asking if pupils (and Staff) can wear something red. Please do not do go out and buy something new for your child. If they do not have a red item then they can just come in their own clothes. If you would like to donate to the cause, please send your donation in your child’s bag and it will be collected.
Thank you to everyone for their support at the bingo night. Our total amount raised was £2,000 – this will give our current leavers a fantastic send off at prom to celebrate the end of their time at Riverbrae.
Thank you to Waterstones at Braehead and Silverburn, for kindly allowing Riverbrae to exchange our World Book Day book vouchers so that each child was able to take home a physical book this week.
Riverbrae ELCC are working hard to promote literacy within our setting and to support families to carry this forward at home. We are now developing a lending library which will allow our children to borrow books to take home and read with their family with the hope of developing literacy skills whilst giving the opportunity for quality time together.
We are hoping there are some of you who can help us in building our book collection. If anyone has, and is willing to donate any books you may have which would be suitable for our age group this would be much appreciated.
Riverbrae are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March 2023. On this day pupils are invited to wear clothes/costumes related to a book. If you do not already have an outfit, please do not buy one as we love home made. If your child would prefer to just wear their own clothes, then this is fine too. From Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March, Riverbrae will be having a particularly focus on reading. If any parents would like to come in to read to a class or two during this week, please e mail Kerry Young on gw16youngkerry@glow.sch.uk to let her know the days/times you are available and the age range of pupil you would like to read to. Please let us know by Friday 17th February, in order to allow a timetable to be made up for classes. We would love as many parents as possible to come in and read. During the week our staff will also be reading to pupils in other classes and we will be having a visit from the local Library staff.
Many thanks in advance

We are providing an area within the staff room where parents can advertise to find potential PA’s from within the school and staff can look for opportunities to help.
If you are interested then make up a short advert just saying what kind of support you would be looking for (e.g., at home, out and about, any personal care required, straight after School, how often etc), a recent picture of your child and your contact details?
You can print it off and send it in or email it to inclusion and we can print it off here.
Have you come across the Carers Card UK website here? We have been advised to be cautious with this website and we too have concerns about it. We are recommending you do not purchase a card from the website shown in link below….. Carers_Card_UK_Concerns.pdf

Inclusion Support
The Inclusion Support role within Riverbrae is primarily to engage Parents and provide extra support to families when required. This may be in the form of home visits or a one-to-one meeting where we can assist with general questions, school queries or signpost people to other services e.g.Advice Works or Families First Groups who can help. We also organise and run Parent/Caregiver groups within the school and provide a reliable point of contact for anyone who has a specific barrier or issue that they are dealing with.
Please do get in touch if there is anything that we can help you with regardless of what the query may be. Feel free to call, email us directly or discuss with whomever your point of contact at school may be and they will arrange a call back.
At Riverbrae we work together to build an inclusive and happy community where every achievement is celebrated and every experience is viewed as an opportunity for learning. We want our young people to have success for today and be prepared for tomorrow.
