The Riverbrae Parent Council will hoofing it around Barshaw Park , jingling our bells to raise money for the Riverbrae PC … more info will be on its way soon …. If anyone would like to join in the fun and be part of the team that would be fantastic ! The more the merrier , it’s a family event , we’d love to see you there !

MINUTES

Chair Veronica

  • Welcome and introductions.
  • Coffee morning for Primary 1/2 parents was well attended it was lovely meeting all the new parents.
  • Macmillan coffee morning was a great success. Well done to the seniors and staff for organising the event. They raised £550.00
  • AGM meeting will be on Wednesday 27th November at 5.45 – 6.45pm in school. All roles are open, if anyone is interested in a role or being a member please email the parent council to register your interest.

  • Surveys were completed regarding the gardening club to tidy up the sensory garden and areas around the school. Eleven people were interested.

After school times won’t work for parents to be able to work on the sensory garden.

Gardening at the front of the building can be done outwith drop-off and pick-up times.

Jennifer Gray will discuss suitable times to access the sensory garden at the next DHT meeting.

Parents felt that starting with the sensory garden would be more beneficial for the pupils.

Risk assessments will be carried out to ensure the safety of pupils.

  • Parent council will decorate the school for Halloween on Friday the 25th Message will be sent out on our Facebook group and learning journals to ask for parents help and any donations are welcome.
  • Parent council will go round classes handing out treats on 31st of October.

Secretary Suzi

  • Apologies for attendance from Lyndsay Dyer and Lynn Campbell.
  • Parent Council made a start organising the drama

department. We will arrange another date to finish.

  • Jennifer Gray. has provided the parent council with letters authorising status for collections/donations/prizes to raise funds for Riverbrae.
  • Proposed Quiz Night has been postponed.
  • We have not been able to meet up with Alister Kyle.

He has applied for funding for an outdoor building.

Treasurer Cheryl

  • Updated bank balance.
  • Reminder we have outstanding football cards that have yet to be returned.
  • Football cards to be advertised on PC Facebook group to ask if any parents would like to complete any and help raise funds.
  • PC has purchased some Halloween decorations for the upcoming school parties and an inflatable.

 

Head Teacher Jennifer Gray

  • Congratulations to Amanda Crab on her new position of Deputy Head Teacher of the Primary Department.

PT position to be filled.

Six ASNA positions have been filled and one vacancy to be filled.

  • Halloween parties will be held on 31st of October in the departments as this works out well for the pupils.

Riverbrae is having a pumpkin competition this year on Monday the 28th October.  Each class will be given a pumpkin to decorate they have been ordered by school.

  • Christmas Fayre will be held on 21st

There has been lots of interest. Tables will be charged at £25 and a donation raffle prize.

Set up help from parent council members needed.

Parent council can have a table at the fayre.

 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

  • Sponsored reindeer dash will be going ahead in December date to be arranged.
  • Parents have gave some feedback regarding the parent coffee mornings on Thursday in the parents room. Jennifer Gray welcomed parents opinions and the coffee mornings will be advertised more regularly to open it up to more parents.

 

  • Q&As
  • Parents room availability, what time is parents room available and can parents still book the room for meetings or parent meet ups?
  • Jennifer Grey- Parents room is available for parents to use. It is currently booked every second Monday by Citizens Advice Bureau. Tuesday is free Wednesday and Thursday mornings are booked and Friday is free. If you want to use the room it must be booked in advance and can be done by contacting the office.
  • Could parents be given a diary of events to enable them to make arrangements in advance to be able to attend.
  • Jennifer Grey- Yes we will be able to do this with most events that are planned in advance.
  • Summer Fete fundraising update on how funds were being used.
  1. Jennifer Grey- The funds have not been spent yet. All funds raised go directly to the school. We will keep you informed of how fundraising money is being spent in the newsletter.
  • Update on swimming.
  1. Jennifer Gray- School have reached out to third party organisation Just Dive and are waiting on a response.
  • When will youth club and sports club return?
  1. Jennifer Gray – Youth club returns on the 9th of October messages have been sent out to parents with dates and times.

Oneren are having issues arranging coaches for sports clubs.

 

  • ACTIONS
  • Jennifer Gray to book the parents room for the AGM on 27th November at 5.45pm.
  • Jennifer Gray to arrange times that are suitable to have access to the sensory garden for tidy up.
  • Veronica arrange date to finish drama room.
  • Sweets and treats to be purchased by parent council. Date to be arranged to make up sweet bags.
  • Message to be sent out to parents to help decorate for Halloween any donations are welcome.
  • Parent council members to arrange meeting to discuss upcoming AGM and Christmas Fayre.
  • Parent council members to give availability for set up of Christmas Fayre and to run our table.
  • Susan Woods to advertise Thursday coffee mornings via learning journals and can be shared on the parent council Facebook group.

School youth club programme

Youth Services

Youth Services is working in partnership with Riverbrae to deliver a 10 week, after school youth club programme. The club will run from the 4th October – 13th December. The programme will be delivered in the school, with a range of creative, fun activities that will aim to build confidence, promote social contact, and consult on what the young people would like to take part in future projects. Youth Services will aim to provide activities that will help young people gain Hi5 award and beyond – taking part in this varied programme will allow young people to gain new experiences and skills.
