WEBINAR session with Professor Ken Muir for parents/carers – Reform of THE Scottish qualifications authority and Education Scotland
WEBINAR session with Professor Ken Muir for parents/carers – Reform of THE Scottish qualifications authority and Education Scotland
About this Event
The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills announced on 22 June 2021 the intention to replace the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and remove the function of school inspection from Education Scotland. Professor Ken Muir, University of the West of Scotland, has been appointed to act as an independent advisor to the Scottish Government to consider and advise on the implementation of these changes and consider all functions currently delivered by both the SQA and Education Scotland.
Professor Muir wants to hear the views and ideas from all those with an interest in Scottish Education. This webinar is an opportunity specifically for parents and carers with children and young people in education, to hear first-hand about this reform work, to express views and ideas about the kind of education system we want to see in Scotland for the future and to ask questions of Professor Muir.
When
The virtual webinar session will take place on Wednesday 27th October from 6 30 p.m. till 8 p.m.

Dear Parents / Carers
As we approach the September Weekend, I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we continue to navigate the ever changing landscape.
It has been great to have all our children and young people back with us and I have been so impressed at how quickly they have settled into their new classes.
We are hoping that as of next week we will be able to arrange some planned outings for classes with an emphasis on Health and Wellbeing. We will look at each class individually and work alongside the class teacher to decide what supports are required before going out. We will keep you informed about any trips planned for your child’s class.
We have linked in again this session with Hear my Music and Nordoff Robbins and I am delighted that they will be able to come into school to support our young people.
We are also in the process of organising some drama and art projects in October for the children and young people to participate in.
Before Lockdown we had been successful in our application for funds to develop a rebound therapy programme. We now have all the equipment required and are looking to get this programme up and running in October. Classes will be in touch if your child is involved in this programme.
We continue to work alongside the Paisley Callants Rotary Club, and we have been asked to create some pieces of art work for two of the bedrooms at Ronald McDonald house. Watch this space for some very creative pieces of art from our children and young people.
We have organised for M and M productions to come to the school on 26th October to perform “Pirates of the Caribbean”. We will continue to follow Covid procedures during this visit.

Renfrewshire Active Schools Pupil Activity Survey for 21/22.
Renfrewshire Active Schools have now launched our Pupil Activity Survey for 21/22. This short survey allows your Active Schools coordinator to learn more about your levels of activity and work to provide opportunities to engage pupils in sport. This form also allow for pupils and parents to suggest sports or activities they wish to try. These suggestions will then be used by your Active Schools coordinator to offer the right extracurricular clubs in schools and aim to have more pupils more active. The survey also provides the opportunity for adults and young people to volunteer within Active Schools or the wider RL programmes. The closing date for this survey is 13 November 2021.

17th August 2021
Dear Parents / Carers
We are delighted to welcome back our children and our new starts to school. They have all settled well into their new class and are enjoying the company of their new friends.
We are still applying the same COVID regulations that we had in place before the summer, and these will be reviewed by the council over the next 6 weeks. We will keep you informed once we receive any updates. Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
Due to the Scottish Government regulations (The Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drink in schools (Scotland) Regulations 2020) we will no longer be able to buy or provide snacks for the children and young people. Please ensure your child comes to school with a healthy snack and a water bottle. We are a nut free school so can I please ask that any snack provided does not contain nuts. If you need to discuss this further, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. I have provided the link below for more information.
We said goodbye to our leavers in the summer. We wish them every success for the future. I would also like to give a big welcome to all our new Primary 1 children who have joined us this session.
