Raising Attainment in Reading

This two part course for primary and lower secondary practitioners explores the use of a reader response approach to develop pupils’ comprehension skills using high quality texts.  This course explores a range of evidence-based comprehension strategies including:

  • developing comprehension skills with the 3 Domain Model
  • the selection of challenging texts
  • the use of class/individual reading journals and response walls
  • the 3 sharings
  • shared reading
  • text marking
  • illustration
  • drama and role play

This course will be offered termly in session 21/22 (dates TBC) and can also be tailored to meet the needs of individual schools and offered as an in-service/collegiate input.
