This two part course for primary and lower secondary practitioners explores the use of a reader response approach to develop pupils’ comprehension skills using high quality texts. This course explores a range of evidence-based comprehension strategies including:
- developing comprehension skills with the 3 Domain Model
- the selection of challenging texts
- the use of class/individual reading journals and response walls
- the 3 sharings
- shared reading
- text marking
- illustration
- drama and role play
This course will be offered termly in session 21/22 (dates TBC) and can also be tailored to meet the needs of individual schools and offered as an in-service/collegiate input.
