This session will explore the principles behind Numbertalks as well as offering practical guidance on how to embed Numbertalks as a routine part of classroom practice. Numbertalks focus less on answers and more on the thinking leading to the answer. This is a powerful way of giving a voice to learners, developing deeper understanding and allowing the teacher to assess the learner’s current understanding of the concept being explored. Datatalks, which apply similar principles but under the context of information-handling, will also be introduced.
