Raising Attainment in Writing

This two part course for primary and lower secondary practitioners considers a range of strategies to engage reluctant writers, to encourage children to see themselves as writers and to draw upon children’s own knowledge and experiences to inform their writing.  This course explores a range of evidence-based strategies including:

  • developing writing skills with the 3 Domain Model
  • developing writing through use of a shared text
  • the use of class/individual writing journals
  • low stakes, high impact writing activities
  • use of poetry
  • differentiation of writing

This course will be offered termly in session 21/22 (dates TBC) and can also be tailored to meet the needs of individual schools and offered as an in-service/collegiate input.
