Health & Wellbeing

Our Rationale

In order to close the poverty-related attainment gap and raise attainment across our establishments, we must ensure that the health and wellbeing of all our children and young people remains a key priority within Renfrewshire Council.

We are committed to ensuring that our workforce are equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver a high quality provision which supports the needs of our school community through high quality professional learning.

Our Outcomes

  • Through the implementation of Renfrewshire Council’s Children’s Services Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy for Education Establishments, staff will engage with a range of baseline and informed training as appropriate to their role which will support the needs of our children and young people.
  • Staff supporting children and young people will display improved knowledge and confidence in different aspects of health and wellbeing such as issues relating to mental health (including self-harm, suicide) and relationships, sexual health and parenthood (including gender-based violence).
  • Establishments will engage with training around internet safety in order to provide a robust framework of support and consistent messaging around internet safety education for children and young people and their parents/carers.
  • Children and young people will access appropriate support when needed.  This will also include appropriate signposting and referral to other supports within Renfrewshire Council and beyond.
