Aims

The EAL team aims to:

    • make a positive difference for children and young people by implementing GIRFEL strategies;
    • facilitate full participation and achievement of bilingual learners in education, to promote equality, inclusion and social justice, and to this end, to build supportive partnerships with schools, agencies and parents;
    • provide support which is directed at raising the attainment of bilingual learners;
    • help schools make their provision more accessible to, and inclusive of, pupils who are learning through English as an Additional Language, so as to improve their learning outcomes and experiences;
    • provide support, based on the principles of equality and fairness, which promotes high expectations of achievement for all pupils; to support partnerships with parents and carers directed at supporting the learning needs of their children.
